At the Floor Store . . .
We specialize in custom floors of all kinds: ceramic tile, prefinished wood floors [nailed, glued, and floating installations,] vinyl sheet and tile floors of all types, carpeting, rugs, laminates, and commercial floors such as radial rubber tiles, sheet rubber, inlaid vinyls, and custom vinyl tiles for the discriminating taste. Since we especially like custom ceramic work, we also do walls as well as floors: showers, bathrooms, kitchen countertops and backsplashes with things like glass mosaics, tumbled marble, and intricate inserts both factory made and custom built to your specifications right in our workshop. Woodstove heat shields, hearths, multiple-surface combinations like ceramic tile with polished marble feature strips. Ask for the extraordinary... please.

Choices
The Floor Store prides itself in showing and offering things out of the ordinary. If you've seen something somewhere that really caught your eye, try to take a picture of it [at least a mental picture, anyway] and bring it to us . You may not see it right away in the showroom because it may be hidden under another sample board. It might even be in the closet or down in the basement where it got misplaced or put aside while we are showing something else. Since we're not a huge warehouse-type operation, some things get rotated from time to time and may not be readily visible. If you saw something amazing in Manhattan or Boston, we may well be able to find it... maybe in Oregon or Seattle; maybe in Italy or Spain; maybe in Japan or India... if it's available on the market we can probably track it down. Then we'll do what we do best: we'll come to your home and provide a very professional and thorough estimate for whatever it is that you're considering. We'll submit a no-nonsense, intelligent and simple estimate for the job that you're interested in doing. There's no hidden numbers in our quotes. We're very up front with how much material you need, what it costs, what the labor breakdown is, what we plan to do and what you said that you'd do. If somehow we missed something or got it wrong, it'll be clear in the quote and you'll be able to get us to fix it BEFORE the contract gets written [not in the middle of the job!] What we've been doing more than anything these days is preparing proposals for customers like you. We've been sending out a record number of quotes lately, and the good news is that we're getting most of the jobs, and the calender is filling up fast. So if you're in a hurry for a new floor; the sooner you come in to choose something, the more likely we'll be able to get your name on the calender quickly.
Just a note about timing: since it's really unfair to just insert someone's name on the work calender until a product is chosen and a work order is approved, please don't ask us to just "put our name up there on the next open time." It almost never works when we've tried that in the past. We don't know how long the job will take yet; or how long it will take to get your materials; or how much to order; or whether all the preparation work will have been completed for your new floor. Everyone who is on the calender now has taken the time to come in the store, choose a material, wait for the quote, and approve the work by signing a contract and sending in a deposit. Once you've done that, you won't appreciate anyone else being placed ahead of you that hasn't participated in the process as you have. So please help us be fair to everyone [and you] by letting us be as accurate and complete as possible before "holding time" for you. We and all of our other customers will greatly appreciate your understanding and participation on how we schedule your work.
Remnants
A remnant is an economical way to cover a small area. We used to carry a wide variety of remnants, but the small ones usually collected too much dust in the warehouse [and we need the warehouse space these days.] We have a few in stock from time to time [although no really small ones like we used to.] These are high quality floor coverings that are left over from full rolls or contract jobs. This is true for both carpet and sheet vinyl. There may be as few as three or four up to as many as eight or ten. We have samples of the remnants for viewing in the store.
- Store Carpet & Linoleum Remnants: All $4.00 per sq. yd. to $10.00 per sq. yd.
- It takes 1 working day for us to bring the remnant to the store.
If you need a remnant cut to any specific size, it will be to the store in 2 working days from the day you choose the remnant and the charge is $20.00 for a cut down fee. The part(s) that we we cut off of your carpet is yours to keep. If the rug is to be cut down into a specific configuration (oval, octagon or anything other than a square or rectangle) the cut charge will be higher.
If you need your remnant bound (edges hand secured for no fraying), it will be to the store in approximately 5-7 working days. We charge $2.50 per lin ft to bind and you can choose your color binding if you like. There is a minimum labor charge of $45.00 for binding.
